Acne Scar Treatment

Most of the scars those appear as reddish or brownish blemishes will fade after some days without any specific treatment. The basic thing to know when handling acne scars is you should not break those acne bumps on the skin which only leaves it with severe scarring. However, if you are having severe scars, the best way to get rid of the scarring is to consult a dermatologist.

  1. Laser resurfacing:  The laser gets rid of the dead uppermost layer of skin with scars and tightens the middle layer, leaving skin soft. It consumes between 3 and 10 days for the skin to heal properly.
  2. Dermabrasion: This treatment uses a rotating wire brush or spinning diamond instrument to remove the outer layer of the skin. A new, smoother layer comes in place of the abraded skin after the skin heals. It may long 10 days to 3 weeks to heal the skin.
  3. Fractional laser therapy: This treatment works at a deeper level than laser resurfacing or dermabrasion. Fractional laser therapy doesn’t wound the top layer of tissue and therefore healing time is shorter.

For “rolling” scars, doctors sometimes infuses material under the scar to raise it to the level of normal skin. Finally, in some cases, a doctor may prescribe surgery to remove deeply indented scars. One thing you shouldn’t do to tackle acne scars is load up your face with masks or fancy lotions — these won’t help and may distroy your skin all the more.
